Across April 1 and 2, 2017, the world’s best jousting action returns with Australia’s Kryal Castle playing host to the inaugural Tasman Shield International Jousting Tournament. Australia and New Zealand are fierce competitors on the sporting field, and the arch rivals both boast world class exponents of this dangerous and spectacular medieval sport.

Australia’s champion jousters will don their armour and face off against New Zealand’s finest. The Australian team is captained by former world champion and home town hero Phil Leitch. Joining him will be Cliff Marisma, who took out the 2016 St Ives Medieval Faire International Jousting Tournament, along with experienced international Andrew McKinnon. The New Zealand team will be led by veteran international competitor Jezz Smith, alongside team mates Vikki Subritzky and Simon Neilsen.

Kryal Castle is the premiere jousting location in the southern hemisphere and has featured jousting as part of its entertainment since the drawbridge was first opened in 1974.
