Perth stands in the way of Sydney making its first ABL Championship Series presented by Boral.

The Blue Sox head west for a best-of-three ABLSF presented by Boral after dropping two games to Adelaide in the final round to miss out on the North-East Division title.

Sydney’s bats fired in two wins, but fell short of the three wins it needed to guarantee a home semi-final and top seed throughout the 2019 Playoffs presented by Boral.

Now the Sox make a second trip of the season to Perth.

Sydney completed a series sweep during the regular-season match-up between the two teams.

The Sox will be looking to regain the form it showed against the Heat in those four games.

Sydney finished the season slower than any of the other playoff-bound teams, going 5-7 across their past 12.

Their league-leading pitching accumulated a 4.81 ERA in 12 January games – again the worst mark of the five playoff outfits – but their bats swung hot.

The Blue Sox hit .313 as a team in the final three rounds.

Sydney’s pitching will need to be at its best against Perth.

The Heat topped the ABL with 289 regular-season runs and averaged 6.8 runs per game at home.

Perth wrapped up its regular-season campaign with a split on the road to Canberra.

The Heat rode a strong start from John Anderson to a win in game two before an extra-innings win on Saturday night.

Tristan Gray (.375 average, 16 RBI) and Robbie Glendinning (.429 average, 14 RBI) have been in impressive form for Perth since the start of the new year.
