Epicentre.tv is excited to present the APB Sintra Pro featuring the world’s best bodyboarders attempting to conquer one of the best waves in the world!
Sintra is back for the 22nd edition of the oldest uninterrupted event on the Bodyboarding World Tour, the Sintra Portugal Pro, in Praia Grande (September 13th to 18th). Organized for the first time by the Sintra’s Coast Bodyboarding and Surfing Association (ABSCS). As always, this prestigious event is supported almost entirely by the Sintra municipality and under the ever watchful guidance of Roman Alvarez, the hand at the helm of this event since day one, twenty years ago.
The first event of the european leg of this APB World Tour distinguished itself through out the years for being the launch ramp for some of the best portuguese riders ever to have competed on the world tour. Names like Hugo Pinheiro, Manuel Centeno, Rita Pires and Catarina Sousa just to name a few, tested their mettle against the world’s best for the first time in Praia Grande, a challenging, ever changing beach break.
Again, in 2016, as an established trademark in recent years, Sintra presents all the categories of the APB: Open, Women, Dropknee and Juniors.
The frenchman Pierre Louis Costes who is based in Portugal for 6 years now is the defending champion, in the Men’s Open in his second win in Praia Grande. Brasilian Jessica Becker conquered the competition in the women’s event in 2015, David Barbosa, also from Brasil was the junior champion, while in the DK, the winner was the world champion Dave Hubbard (Hawaii).
So, fun waves, lots of sun, beautiful bikini clad beauties, wonderful natural landscapes and historical heritage, Sintra has a lot to offer and it certainly is going to be an awesome bodyboard festival.
